Villa Solbakken

Welcome to Villa Solbakken! Here we share the journey from a dream in an olive grove to a new home in the sun – for family, friends, and everyone curious about how it has gone. Follow us from plot to finished villa, with the best moments, the views, and the hope of many good memories here.

The dream begins – the plot

It all started with a plot full of olive trees and a fantastic view of the Mediterranean. Here, we envisioned a place for both tranquility and togetherness.

The plot as it was when we bought it – olive trees and a view of the Mediterranean.

no First sod turning – groundwork

Rock in the ground meant that it was necessary to jackhammer and pour solid foundations and a retaining wall. Now things really started happening!

Groundwork: foundation and retaining wall. There was bedrock in the ground, so it had to be broken up with a jackhammer.

The structural shell is rising

After many hours of casting and masonry work, the shell structure was completed – the skeleton of Villa Solbakken took shape, both as seen from the garden and with the scaffolding in place.

The dream for the future – this is how it will be

The architect's sketches and visualizations have given us something to look forward to: bright, open rooms, large terraces, and colors that belong under the sun.

The view we never get tired of

From the terrace on the second floor, we get this view – we look forward to breakfasts and long evenings together here.

Hi Lucía! We would like to make the terrace on the second floor one meter deeper, so we have room for a long table. Is it possible without changing the columns?

Lucía MartínOct 5, 2026, 3:57 AM

Hi Kari: yes, it is possible to extend the terrace by one meter with a cantilever, without touching the pillars. The slab would need to be reinforced and the railing checked. I will send you the revised plan (R2) on Friday.

Great, thanks! Can you also include an external water outlet on the terrace?

Hi Lucía! We have looked at the terrace again. Can the railing be made of glass instead of wrought iron, and what does that mean for the price? I have attached a picture of the view we want to preserve.
